Coolest Ways To Be Involved In Politics

October 6th, 2008 No Comments »

Politics is all over.  No matter how one tries to stay away from this aspect of life, it still exists and will affect the day to day system.  And so, one is left with little choice but to just adapt to the bickerings and the promises.

Involving one’s self in politics doesn’t mean one has to run for a position or debate all day long on who should win.  There are creative and cool ways to be in jive with the unescapable political world.  Take a look at the following ways and start to be involve now:

1.  Join a political poster design contest

A political poster design contest basically is for those who are endowed with the gift to draw beautifully.  The candidates have their own poster design contests online and it is a cool and definitely creative ways to be politically-inclined without being a dull speaker.  John McCain currently has a poster design contest open to voting while Barack Obama sells the political posters designed by his supporters as part of his campaign.

2.  Become a member of a political discussion board

As there tens of political forums in the web alone, those who have the gift of jab can never run out of avenues to be involved in the political issues.  Plus, one will never run out of anything to say as there is a new issue everyday.

3.  Pose for a political website

For those who want to be exposed, in a good way, try following Jessica Alba’s footsteps.  Gag yourself and pose for a website that advocates voting.  Her thought provoking poses for declareyourself.com really made news and it is definitely cool to be a model for a worthy cause.

4.  Vote

This is what EVERYONE can do. Voting this coming elections is the coolest thing one can do to be involved in politics.   It makes one’s voice heard sans the condemnation or the debate of why one chose that candidate.  The polling booth will serve as the vessel of one’s right to suffrage.

It is important to be involved in politics, even it is one of the most boring and dirty subjects.  Politics affects even mortgage, gas price and even health care.  Might be the best time to just be cool and yet make a difference.

Palin knows how to market herself

Sarah Palin is all over the news.  The moment John McCain presented her as his running mate, people have dived for any news about her.  Considered as the dark horse, most political analysts seem to have understimated Palin as she is an unknown governor of a quiet state, Alaska.

She is tagged as a conservative who plays by the old-world rules. Even her family was already on the front page of every news outlet.  Outrageous rumors immediately flew in.  People thought she’s just from a small town with little executive experience.  I don’t know about Alaska being a little state or her executive experience, but I do know that her ways are not that old-world.  I wonder if she’ll be using this tactic again as she runs for the veep.

And it said frugally, well, at least, she shows she knows how to manage the finances.

Health care, why it should be publicly funded

August 21st, 2008 No Comments »

With the elections just two months away, the issue has shifted on who will be Obama and McCain’s veep and the most fundamental issues are now being set aside.  As a concerned voter, (yes, I will vote on November) I am most yearning to hear their more specific and concrete health care plans.  My basic question is that if the would-be president would let his government handle the health insurance department or will still let private entities to handle this.

If the government  will shoulder this nation’s health care, they will spend approximately 4.4-6.7 trillion dollars every 4 years. Experts say that this is more than what we spend in Iraq for a year.  WEll, if this is the case, I would choose this as the money will be spent to save lives not kill them.

In other countries where the health care is totally funded by the government, they claim that it takes weeks to actually be seen by a doctor and be given medication or be exposed to medical tests.  I daresay it all depends on the management.  If there will be more healthworkers and hospitals available, then there should be no reason why a mere appointment would take 7 days to be made.

Universal health care works very well in most of the developed western world. Your claims about the deficiencies of these systems are unsubstantiated, and not borne out by my own experience of universal health care in both the UK and Australia.

Universal health care does not mean a system controlled by the government, it means a system financed by taxation and universally available.  So, these are my reasons why health care for ALL citizens should be funded by the government.

I hope to hear this from Obama and McCain instead of seeing them trying to play a hide-and-seek game on who their VPs will be.

Obama now a hollywood celebrity?

As I view the world,  there are two things that gain our attention, the elections and the gas prices.  And their common denominator?  Barack Obama and John McCain.

They just throw criticisms towards each other like they’re playing baseball on time pressure.  Come to think of it, this is just but unfortunately normal, but I had a laugh and then got annoyed when I saw this ad by McCain against Obama:

Come on, he is just obviously jealous of the popularity Obama is gaining, especially with this ties with the celebrities, especially with Lady O. It is just so childish and nature. What makes this more annoyingly funny is that he compared Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears? What the heck? Those two are blondes shouldn’t be your role models for a celebrity. But then again, maybe that’s the way he wants Obama to be portrayed, a mindless celebrity.
