I am so into the father’s day mood so I’ll ride it in until the feeling expires. Our fathers will always be our dads no matter what we do, but there will come a time that we the children will be the ones to father them. My dad is now 78 and he can barely walk now and it pains my heart to see him just sitting with so much energy but his body won’t cooperate anymore.
He worked 6 days a week just to support me and my brother but he never failed to be with us during Sundays. Not once. Even if he was sick, he’d get up and take us to church and then cook for us and just spend the whole day talking about the funny things that happened during the past week. I missed those Sundays. Now, he can only smile and nod and talk a bit but I can feel he wants to say something funny.
Happy Father’s day daddie.
