Wedding epidemic

July 16th, 2008 No Comments »

For me, June isn’t the wedding month as 3 of my friends are getting hitched this month.  When I got the invites last June, I was shocked to realize that they are all going to be July brides!  It’s like an epidemic and it’s spread to all those I know.  And the one common thing is that all of the weddings will take place at 3 in the afternoon!  What a coincidence, huh?  Well, I’m quite thankful as it will give me time to actually rest in the morning and have more time to prepare.  Hey, the bridesmaids need time to be beautiful for the wedding, right?

Excited for the the new Apple I-phone

As the release of Apple’s new Iphone,  I am one of those who can hardly stay awake. My next-door neighbor has joined the long line of Iphone fanatics and has vowed to stay awake.  Not to make it obvious, I am just at home right now, but at the back of my mind, I want to get into that line.  LOL!

Post-4th of July blues

It’s the Monday after the 4th of July celebrations. The hangover of the festivities are still in the air and so I am one of those who are seriously thinking of an excuse not to go to work. But whatever reason I’ll give, the bosses will know it’s because of the long weekend hype. Hopefully, they’ll accept it.

The pitfalls of having two day jobs

July 1st, 2008 No Comments »

As much as I need the money, having two jobs can really make one’s life  a living hell. I mean, you’ll have to deal with two bosses.  It could have been great if one of them is a good one, but in my case, they are both bosses from hell.  They give instructions that they themselves don’t really understand and expect me to decipher their vague ideas!  Plus, the deadlines they set are unrealistic!  Plus, they pay crap.  Well, if I combine my crap salaries from my two jobs, it’s a little bit more than enough, actually. But it misses the point!  Yes, I do have something to save in the bank account but then I have no life, so what’s the use?

What’s happening to our teens now?

It is alarming to hear that the age range of girls getting pregnant are becoming younger.  This week, the nation was shocked to hear the news of more than a dozen of high school girls in Gloucester who became pregnant almost all at the same time.  The principal allegedly told that this was a result of a pregnancy pact and one of the fathers of the unborn babies was a homeless man.  Isn’t this startling or what?

It’s like these kids think that pregnancy is the new cool thing right now.  One cannot help that this was influenced by some of teen celebrity pregnancies.  There was almost always an update on Jamie Lynn Spears trip the hospital for a checkup or what she put in the baby registry.  It is so sad that it seems that early pregnancy is if not totally condoned but actually highlighted in such a way that it is ok to get pregnant even if you’re just in your teens because you can just pass your GEDs.

The values are becoming less emphasized and we are now on a state that people have no boundaries at all.  Just so sad.

Relying on the unreliable

I thought I can trust people to do their part.  But it turned out that those you thought were the non-trustworthy people are the ones who are up for doing the job.  It was very surprising and disappointing at the same time.  First impressions and promises are out of things to count on now.

5 new additions to Murphy’s Law

June 6th, 2008 1 Comment »

Are you careful enough? Do you know Murphy? If not, I am pretty sure that most people do because he is quite famous. He made famous the saying that means better NOT be careful than sorry. “If anything will go wrong, it will.” It was named after Captain Edward A. Murphy but, the he did not name the law to himself. Another man named Murphy did. He also died by his law. One dark evening somewhere in the United States, his car ran out of gas and as he hitchhiked to go to a nearby gas station, while facing traffic and wearing white, he was struck from behind by a British tourist who was driving on the wrong side of the road!

It doesn’t matter if it will embarrass a celebrity or a famous person. It will just happen. But do you know, there are other additions to this Murphy’s Law and these are facts already!

1.    Light travels faster than sound. This is also why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
2.    A fine is a tax for doing wrong; also, a tax is a fine for doing well.
3.    He, who laughs last, thinks the slowest.
4.    Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
5.    The 50-50-90 rule. Anything you have a chance of 50-50 of getting it right, there is a 90% probability you’ll get it wrong.

So, next time, try not to be careful or else, Murphy’s Law might strike at the least expected time you expect.
